Telecommunications
Over the last few years, the
telecommunications industry has undergone drastic transformation driven
by a number of key factors, including deregulation, increased
marketplace demands for distribution and bandwidth, broadening
competition, and recent economic downturn.
Technology-driven change is as intense in telecommunications as it is
in any industry. Convergence in the home, WiFi, Cable vs. DSL,
cellular, VOIP, VPN and web conferencing are only a few examples of
where change is rapid and competition is intense. In addition, public
sector agencies tackling e-terrorism threats and undertaking new agency
communication integration projects face enormous network connectivity
and security challenges. Telecommunications systems are already
stretched to capacity, and new investments in increased security are
needed.
Despite the current economic challenges, Alpine expects the telecommunications
industry to continue to undergo technological change and consolidation.
We work closely with our clients to quickly assess
their proprietary communications-related technologies, evaluate
commercialization options, and develop strategies to capitalize on
appropriate market opportunities.
